Cluster Problem

So I go for a drive and notice, that except for the Speedo and the odometer, none of the gauges work. Furthermore, when I started the car again the ABS and the battery lights stay on, but as soon as I blip the gas they go off.

What could be the problem? '87 325i

ABS light: Dunno. My iS was the first car I've had with ABS and haven't noticed that.
Battery light: Normal due to the alternator design (read: self-exciting diodes and all)

(was this posted on bimmerforums too?) Check the cluster connections. If not pull the cluster and inspect SI board and cluster.
