    Weird Clutch Feeling Please help

    Hey guys,
My brother just called me and says that his clutch is feeling really weird. It is very soft, no effort, from when the pedal is not depressed to the engagement point.

When he get to the engagement point and pushes down to the floor it becomes very difficult to depress. He says it is very different today then yesterday. I think it is time for a new clutch at least for him because the car hasn't had a new since it has been born..160K.

What are things that could be wrong?

    Thanks
    DJ

Slave cylinder would probably be the issue.

We called our BMW mechanic. He told Dave to add a little brake fluid, its been leaking. Well it fixed it. The level went so low that I guess there is a fitting for fluid to go to the clutch/clutch assembly.

      Thanks

What is leaking? You should get it fixed asap.

It has been leaking we think. We thought it was the brake lines leaking a slight bit that was making the fluid go down slightly because we didn't know that the clutch fed off of it.

Not being stupid but What can happen if we don't get it fixed? What goes bad and is it a lot to fix?

Ususally the clutch master will leak. Take the pannel off under the steering wheel and see if it is wet with brake fluid.

What could happen if we don't do this right now? Is it an emergency?

I don't think that it is an emergency. Just look at the fluid level often and keep a bottle of DOT4 handy in the car.
