Early to late 325e air flow compatibility

I was at the wrecking yard today and I noticed that the early 325e's had a stamped sheetmetal airbox with a larger air filter. I was wondering if anyone knows if the early air flow meter would be compatible with the later 325e ECU.

yes the two eta AFM's are interchangable. the only difference is the early model has a round bolt on flange for the metal airbox, where as the 86 and up's don't have the flange and the plastic box bolts right to the AFM.

88 has a different ECU as it is motronic 1.1 not motronic. Afm's I believe are all interchangable as long as it came from an E30.
