How are e30 coilovers set up in the rear??

I did a search and didn't find much on this.
Do they put all the weight on the rear shock tower? OR is there a perch for the spring, and just a regular tube shock?

I don't see how they could put all the weight on the shock tower, it really isn't designed for it. In fact I've had both of mine break off with just pressures from the shocks, of course rust helped alot too.

I'm sure some pics of rear e30 coilover setups [installed], would clear this up for me, thanks.

Ground Controls for e30 aren't true "coilovers". There is just a threaded sleeve thats sits on the lower spring perch.

The only way to do a true coilover setup on an e30 is to reinforce the shit out of the rear shock towers. I think most people who go this route have a full roll cage installed.

It is required. Either that, or you'll fuck up your car real good.
