    Loud "scrape" on decel.

    It's 3:38am and I've been up for 22 hours. I'm dead tired.

As soon as I pulled out of the highway, I started driving in between traffic lights, and every time I lifted the throttle, a loud scrape would happen. I mean, I felt like some big chunk of the drivetrain was left behind. It keeps happening again and again.

I thought the motor mounts died and the whole motor was shaking, causing the downpipe to hit the firewall, but I popped the hood and revved it up and the motor stays firmly in place.

I looked under the car and the downpipe has a fair amount of clearance (what it has always had) and it seems pretty solid there. And this sound, which I'm pretty sure I can even feel it, keeps happening... but the car still drives fine... decels fine, doesnt stumble, and when accelerating everything is gravy.

I couldnt really diagnose much more than that as I am dead fucking tired. Any clues for me to look after tomorrow?

    Thanks in advance,
    - Erick....out.

It felt like it was coming from the engine bay... but again, I'd have to look.

I've had a CSB go bad before and this feels nothing like it. It's not a vibration, it's a loud thump/scrape.

I was tired last night to be able to properly tell, but I didnt notice any difference. I drove the car just as I always did before. No extra effort on the clutch or anything.

It all felt normal until I lift the throttle.

Lifted the throttle, you mean when you let off the throttle? Maybe a loose belt, when the motor slows down, the belt slips like a bitch.

....I could not honestly picture a belt "scraping" that bad. The scrapes sounds like pure metal to me. At first thought I thought my exhaust piping was falling on the floor.

It happens when I let off the throttle.

It's got to be something with the tranny, that's what it seems like anyway.

^ Agreed.... that's what I'm leaning towards. And with a drift event on the horizon, my funds are on the floor for a proper clutch kit. I might just throw a junkyard set to hold me off.

Any good deals on clutches under say..... $200-300? I'm bending over nasty for this event on the 9th.

Nah it wouldnt work out :( But thanks for the offer.... I'm leaning towards a Sachs HD kit but their numbers is borderline what I'm rocking on my car (250ft/lb torque) so it might just be a waste of money.

                            Gotta look at other options.
