How much of an 95 M3 can I use in my 85 318i

Found a wrecked 95 M3. I found quite a bit about swapping the engine and drivetrain, harness, ECU, etc...but wondering how much else of the car can I use in my 85 318i. Guy is offering to sell the whole thing. Thanks.

You can take the body shell off your E30 and transplant it on the E36.

You can swap in the engine, the ecu, the suspension, the brakes, after you do a 5lug swap you can use the wheels, you can swap in the front seats after you make custom brackets. There's alot of stuff you can swap.

And I think Trent is just being funny. I think he's making the point that there's a ton of stuff that you can swap over.

Thanks Jordan for your help. I did search and read quite a bit...just looking for general answers. The car is a 98 M3 with 85K, asking 4500, but wants to move this week so I'm short on time. I can't get up to speed that quickly. BTW, I'm sure Trent is an hilarious guy in a short bus kind of way.

why does the title of your thread say "95 m3"? the motor is an s52, and has to be converted to OBDI, you got your homework ahead of you.

Sorry about the wrong year...the seller's buddy told me it was a 95, but it is actually a 98. I know the different motor and apparently the S52 has a different system that I will need to change. Any links to a post or is it in FAQ? Thanks.

Looks like you already know you can use the engine and drivetrain .
You will want to source an '95 M3 harness and DME to use with the OBDI swap for the S52 .
If its a non-EWS that is easy but having a EWS DME is no big deal , just have a chip burned for it .

Really the only thing you can use is most of the ft suspension and brake set-up .
I say most because if you run the struts you'll want to run E30 springs and E30 upper perches and strut mounts .
Also ideally you'll need offset CAB's or better yet just go for the Treehouse Racing EyeBall arms which will provide more clearance for the exhaust .

That is really the only real parts that you can use .
Of course you can custom fit the seats and cluster and other misc crap like that .
