    Bavauto seta pistons??

So i have a seta bottom end all taken apart. But i am not happy with the condition the pistons are in. I saw that bav auto sells replacement pistons. My question is do they sell seta pistons? They have the 88 pistons for a eta for sale but are they seta? If not is there anyway to redo or refinish the piston skirts?

If it is the 88 pistons you are looking at on the web site they will be the right ones. If you see the BMW PN that is you should be able to cross referance it to the correct piston. Since all 88 etas are super eta's you should be covered.

If you go to BavAuto's site and input that part number under an 88 325e, it comes back with this, they aren't OEM seta pistons:

          ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

          MaxSil High Performance Piston Set - 84.48mm - 0.50mm oversize - $499.95

Not only are they lighter and stronger than original BMW pistons, they're much less expensive! 13% silicon content allows for tighter clearance (0.0015'). Precision casting and CNC machining provides consistent quality and matched weight. And most feature oversize bore and a Teflon coating on the skirt for better performance and longevity. Includes rings and pins. 5-year, unlimited mileage warranty.

I am curious to see if the reduced mass gives you extra power at the wheels. Let me know.

it should because it doesn't have to push that mass around in the motor any more. it should also give you snappier revs and a few other pluses that i could go on about...

So i wrote bavauto just to make sure that the part # was what i needed this is what i got back!

                  Guillermo,

                  Thank you for your inquiry.

The piston set part number you have is specifically for the 88 super eta
engine. It is not a higher compression piston than stock. These super
eta engines are basically a 325i top end with a 325e bottom end. The
pistons are different in this year, but these engines are actually lower
compression than the previous eta engine. The 84-87 engine is 9.0:1 and
the 88's are 8.5:1. The slightly lower compression is easily made up for
with the better flowing head. The 88's peak at 127 horsepower at 4800
rpm and 170 foot pounds of torque at 3200. The older engine peaks at 121
horsepower at 4250 rpm and the same 170 foot pounds of torque at 3200.

Fucking perfect answer! I love it.
