    noob question.......

I just sold my 74 2002 and bought a 87 325is. I really like it alot - it's very nice - but there are 2 things wrong with it. first, the drivers side front wheel bearing is shot. How hard is this to replace? It looks like I just have to take off the caliper and the retaining nut and im gold. Is it that easy?
Also, I have VERY noise valve tap. I thought the valves in e30's were self adjusting? Do I just need to get in the head and adjust all of the tolerances or is there something I'm missing? Forgive my ignorance - I'm at least 10 years behind in technology.:)

    thanks in advance

The front wheel bearing is easy to remove and you are right about the steps involved, although you may need a puller to remove the hub/bearing assembly.

The valves on the m20 are not self adjusting and require a valve adjustment every 15-20k miles or so I believe.

    Welcome to the forum

Also, if you're going to replace one of them, you might as well replace them both, that way you have new wheel bearings on each side. You don't want a brand new one on one side, and a 20 year old one on the other.

        unfortunately my finances wont

allow me to do both. Besides, the passenger side bearing is as tight as can be. I'll adjust the valves asap. I hate that damn tapping.

That's good. welcome to the thread, just pray that your rear bearing(s) don't go out. That is not easy to replace. IMHO, probably one of the hardest things to replace, aside from the subframe bushings.
