My car has a new problem that im convinced is due to the AFM, which is completely shot. I dont see the point in spending 423 some odd dollars on a new AFM. I've switched it out with spares from parts cars etc, but the problem still exists on cold days.
It seems when the motor warms up, that the throttle will completely cut out and i'll just coast. I hit the gas and NOTHING happens. the car backfires constantly when this happens.

well, im starting to think it may be one of the temperature sensors, or possibly even a timing problem. cause the backfiring can only mean a couple things, right?

Backfiring, in the absence of intake valve problems, is from a lean mixture or a timing problem. If the problem only exists when the engine is cold an intake leak is a possibility. In general a timing problem should be present whethter the engine is hot or cold.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
