    new muffler installed (pics)

Okay.. I had posted a couple of weeks back asking what muffler I should get.
I pretty much ignored everything ya'll told me and got what I wasn't supposed to get, an Ansa Sport/performance muffler.

I ordered from ExpressAutoParts. Took foreeeever to get here, and when it arrived, it looked like this:

I fussed about that, and nothing was done about it. <sigh>
Because the inspection is about to expire and I don't have time to waste,
I went ahead and had the muffler put on. I THOUGHT it was going to be an easy bolt on kinda thing,
however, expressauto didn't send me everything as advertised. So.. I had Mieneke make the piece I needed and install everything. ($$)

Here's a picture of the new muffler on the car:
(I haven't decided yet whether I like the way it looks, but it sounds great)

All of a sudden, my car is really quiet. I can actually hear the fuel pump. woahh.

    Thoughts? Questions? Comments?

Sucks that the muffler came in such bad condition. I really like the way it looks and the stance of you car.

    Good work.

How much did it run you? Install looks decent...if I were really picky I'd want the muffler to be angled up just a tiny bit more.

If your car was like 1-2" lower in the rear, it'd be awesome.

Your old muffler was a dual in, dual out?

I think by the time I bought the muffler, hanger strap and gasket.. it was like $160.
The work at meineke (I have no clue how to spell that!) was $30.
Not toooo bad, but it was still money I didn't want spend :-(

Yeah.. I actually might see if it can be adjusted any.. the angle isn't quite right.

Bill.. muffler mystery is solved. Now I REALLY feel stupid!

Okay.. so the picture I posted of "the old muffler".. didn't come off my 318 at all!
That would explain a few things huh?

I went out to the car this morning to clean it out. I found this old rusted muffler in the trunk and ASSUMED it was the one they took off my car.
HAHA. Not quite though. I shoulda looked at it closer. Apparently Dad had taken the muffler from the E12 to talk to somebody at Meineke about it. You just might think I'da noticed the difference! <sigh>
              Sorry for the mix up!

wait, so when you took the car in, they put the muffler from the E12 on???? oh man.. so basically you have to get that one taken off and then have this one put back on? That must be a big inconvienence. I can't beleive that people can actually get away with shipping crap like that, but looks like if you can't straighten those tips a bit you can just run to autozone or the like and get some new ones. 6 bucks each for mine, I personally like the slant tips on e30s and you may find ones that slip right over those tips too..

curious as to how the ansa sounds. I almost went that route, but got their sports intermediate pipe and a generic turbo muffler. I got it right before winter hit and knew salt would kill anything i put on and blowing 20 bucks was better than 200.

Oh boy.. I've confused you! If you didn't see the posts earlier.. You wouldn't understand because I've deleted a bunch of stuff.

Lemme try to clear a few things up.

I DO have the right muffler ON my car. The confusion lied in the muffler that was in my trunk!
I thought it was my old 318 muffler, when it turns out, it was an E12 muffler.
See, I posted a picture on here saying "old rusty 318 muffler".
Then somebody pointed out that it was dual in/dual out.. and I was like woah!?
So anyway.. I confused everybody by posting a picture of the wrong muffler.

My dad actually got the tips of the ansa muffler straightened out enough that..
unless you look REALLY closely, you wouldn't notice they were ever damaged.

Here's a picture of the whole ansa muffler before installation - it's fairly attractive and not too ricey:

I really do like the way the ANSA sounds. It's quiet, but has a nice rumble to it.

                    Wait.

So you put half of an e12 muffler welded to half of a diesel motor muffler on your e30 and the Ansa 318 muffler on your euro e21 and then posted a picture of a 3 in, 1 out muffler that came from an e28 with a v12 in it? And then mounted a e31 muffler through the trunk of your father's car which was stolen by Meineke?

No she took her car in to get the Ansa installed with a custom bracket and she got home and she opened her trunk to what she thought was her old muffler but ended up not being her muffler as Meinke threw her old 318 muffler in the dumpster. Actually it was a few hours later that she opened her trunk and she found it and then her dad came home and she asked about it and her dad told her it was not from the 318....help me out Rachel im getting lost.

Make any sense guys i was talking to her on the phone this is how she told me the storie i guess you could say.
