Anyone here have some custom fab skills?

Just thought if anyone had some good custom fab skills they could fab up a plexi glass sunroof for the e30. The real ones are way too expensive and I think there would be a large potential market if someone could fab something up. If this can be done I would like to get it going and maybe get a GB going.

    Your thoughts?

if someone has one, they can take measurements (like detailed blueprint style) and then you could take those measurements to a local glass cutting company and have them cut a piece of glass for you.

Isn't the sunroof panel curved? That could be a problem. With a plexiglass one, you could heat up the piece and form it to a mold, but glass would be difficult.

why couldnt you take a steal one in and get the glass company cut it, epoxy the brakets to it, tint it fairly dark and be done.

Because we are all too lazy to actually do that, although it would be hott.
I might work on that this winter if no one else does it.

Actually sounds like the easy way to do it.

Is it really worth the weight difference from the solid sunroof? Plexiglass scratches quite easily as well.

I don't think the point was for weight savings.
I think the original posted wanted to do this because he wants the glass moonroof, but can't afford to pay a third of the value of his car for it.
