Well the 173 was accepted as the BMW warranty replacement for the much hated 153. I think most people prefer the 173, and it lends itself to modification better I understand. I'm not an expert, but I think most of the perfromance chips are made for use with a 173. However, I personally noticed little difference between the two. It did however SEEM that my car idled better with the 525. I'm using a 380 now.

The 173 seems to me versital for chips. Because all the turbo chips are for the the 173 ecu.:: PNW Crew ::
