    drive flange removal

i cant get the rear drive flang off. in the write-up i was following it said to pound it out from the inside. i stuck a socket that fit right inside the wheel bearing's inner diamtere and pounded like hell with a hammer and the bitch wont come out. is there something im doing wrong or is there a trick to it or what? im completely stumped

It's a press fit inside the rear wheel bearing. They can be a real bitch sometimes, and since it's so tight, you can almost be guaranteed that it will ruin the wheel bearing.

im replacing the wheel bearing, so it doesnt matter if i ruin it. i just want to make sure that i am doing it right. if so i'll go back to pounding at it tomorrow with a bigger hammer.

alright. i seriously cant get the piece of shit out. i tried everything i can find on the internet, read every thread i can on r3v and even googled it and all no use. i dont know if im not pounding hard enough or what, but i already smashed my hand like 10 times tonight and my body wont let me swing that hammer hard anymore for the night fearing another hit. so can anyone tell me if im doing anything wrong or is there a trick??!! 30+ views and only 1 reply??!! c'on, i know you guys can do better.

my technique right now is im using a 30mm socket that fits right inside the inner diamtere of the bearing and punding againt the race/drive flange or whatever is inside that bearing. and it hasnt moved a milimeter at all. so im stumped...

if i cant get this out by tommorow night im just going to put it all back together and pay some shop the 200 dollars i was quoted to do the job :(

Whould it be easyer to take off the whole trailing arm? And have the bearing pressed out. My rear wheel bearing is needing replaced soon. But i have a press to get it out if thats the case.

so far from my experiance it seems like it would. but i dont know how hard it is to remove the trailing arm, but im assuming its pretty straight forward and easy.

              try a bigger (heavier)hammer or even a dumbell. I've done amazing things w/ a 25lb dumbell :P

my friend just dropped off a bigger hammer last night, so i guess i'll give that a try. but i think im just going to take the whole bearing and hub assembly off together and take it to a shop to get the old bearing pressed out and the new one pressed in.
