    while the head is out.....

so my head gasket went so i am pulling the head hopefully next weekend to change the head gasket and seals, as well as upgrading to raceware head studs. I have all the stuff i need for this part of the head. Is there anything else i should do while i have the head out of the car?

note: will be an FI engine in the future.

I hope everything goes well on your engine. Depending on when its been done (and im sure you have most of these parts) put in a new timing belt and tensioniser, its usually good to put a new water pump in, and make sure you have exhaust and intake manifold gaskets. Grab a thermostat gasket as well.

Just some things to watch, tear down the front of the motor to get everything out of the way, be prepared for pesky intake manifold and exhaust manifold bolts, and when you put it back together there is a funky tube that goes into the intake side of the head, should be the same on yours. (I only saw part of my head swap as I was at work most of the day it was being done, but my dad told me about those items)

As for FI, I guess it depends on how much boost you want to run, but you should be fine with stock internals and CR. The only other thing i could think of would be to port the head and to update valvetrain. Still you may be in okay shape there. Oh yea, and take that adjustable fuel pressure regulator off your parts car and put that on yours. :) might pick up a little power. I hope you get that thing going soon so we can see it at the meet coming up.
