    m20 wire fire.

I just finished a engine/5spd swap and i went to start the car and this wire burned up. The engine, tranny, and wire harness were from a 90 and they were put into a 88. The t-belt was also changed with this project, any guesses to what caused this wire to cook itself?

There was also zero cranking when i turned the key

For some reason i was thinking this didnt even need to be messed with to start the car, i thought it was just for the lights. Thats what you get for not reading about this swap and jsut going for it. Anyway, this couldnt really happen if they are just sitting there unconnected so could it be somthing that is plugged in wrong under the dash? I had a bitch of a time getting the pedal bracket up in the column so i disconnected some wires. What is the relay in the picturs i have?

Any chances that you have 1989 or newer engine harness and older starer?

If so, you must disconnect one wire from starter solenoid, or things will fry.

If you can figure out what color the wire was or which pin on the relay it goes to I can tell you where it goes.

One more thing, there are two wires going into pin 87 but on the 1988 harness there is only one wire and the wire that is fucked is the one that isnt on the 1988.

Two red/white wire leaving terminal 87 on main reley.

                    1. goes to fuel pump relay, so it's quite short.

                    2. goes to engine harness loom and splices to injectors, charcoal can solenoid and ICV.
