The DEM control unit? Please help...

Sorry guys if this is a noob question, but I got a check engine light in my 90 325is and i did the fault code check and i got 1211 = DME control unit. Now what is that unit and where is it located so i can replace it.


also can i replace it from an earlier bmw model say an 86 325es or 88 325is?

DME = brain of car located in glovebox
Might want to replace it with same unit from another car and then check

I would get one with the same number on the DME unit , I know that one from a 325es won't work.

Just above it. take the black plastic panel off once you open the glovebox.
