    Big Bore Throttel Bodies

Any input on a big bore throttel body? I know of BMP Design and Ireland has one.
    Are they worth it?
    Who offers the best?
    Best deal?

unless you have solid internal mods on your engine, its a waste of money.

Ed Mazula can do it for you, he did mine.

Check Dave Adams site for contact info:

As Jordan said, unless you have extensive internal mods it won't do much for ya.

The stock M20B25 throttle body is plenty big enough for stock internals.

Damn, I was thinkin it was a way to go, if I am looking for better response and breathing I should go with the AMF to MAF conversion ?
Would a big throttel body work better with another cam? Better qusetion whats the best combonation and balance?

why do you want better breathing? what's necessitating that?

for better throttle response, chip it and resurface or buy a lightweight flywheel

I have crap throttel response and I don't want crap throttel response. It's frustrating that when I rev it hickups and sputter bordering on stalling.
I know what your going to say, "your problem isn't your intake".
I know I think it's my fuel/ignition systems. But I was just curiouse about the big bore throttel bodies they seem so apealing.

You need to get your car in tip top operating condition before you even think of throwing mods at it blindly.

I know, I'm not that green. I was going to start colecting performance patrs and do it all at once (and then see what breaks). I need new injectors and new cap... and new wires and plugs while I'm at it. But I was curiouse about the throttel bodies. I probably won't do any internal mods save valve train and cam, if thats what you mean when you say on stock internals?

I had mine done by a shop in NH for $125. Did a great job. Was it worth it? Not really. I've done so much at this point, I couldn't tell you what made a difference. But now that its there, I might as well transfer it all to my stroker. If I were to do it again, I'd go with shorty headers and call it a day. They're the only real modification outside of exhaust, chips and intakes that will yield any noticeable gains. Although not the best, the MSDS are very inexpensive and you can feel better top end with them, at least I did. The other comments shouldn't be ignored. If you're engine isn't up to the task, you'll begin to loose more than you gain due to stress on the rings, bearings and everything else. But if you're going to do all that, you might as well drop in a new one, or build a stroker.

Your car is not worth it. Get a 325iS or take up a cigarette habit.

                          Jordan is absolutly right here.
the BBTB won't do shit for you.

Ok I do get the point you all are telling me (and apriciate it) but in theory what would be the result of me putting a BBTB on my engine with perhaps a chip and a header and of course a cone filter and heatsheild? There are probably a few dozen other guys thinking the same thing out there but afraid to ask be them branded a dumbass. And the first clever tyke to respond with "dumbass" owes grandma a kiss.

I would look up a South African TB. They are damn rare to find, and I think they are expensive. Or you can bore out your own?
