if it is a vaccum leak at the fpr it is easy to check, just take some carb cleaner or some soapy water to the hose that goes from the FPR to the intake manifold. If you see bubbling replace the line. Or for $5.00 it is just as easy to replace the line.

Usually vaccum leaks are at the valve cover either at the hose connected to the valve cover or the valve cover gasket. Both are very easy to replace.

Sometimes the CPS wiggles out of position and could cause intermitant problems. I figure mine's so old and probably covered in crap that it should just be replaced. When I talked about this problem on Unofficial BMW, they suggested that it could be the problem

The vacuum line from the FPR wouldn't leak fuel. It's the line from the FPR to the side of the intake manifold--it's an air line. I wouldn't imagine it'd cost more than $10 to replace it. You could spray carb cleaner on it to see if it changes the engines pitch if you really want to test it.

In my case I'm pretty sure it's either the crankshaft position sensor or the fuel pump. My ignition wires are original, so they're also going to (eventually) get replaced.

Good luck Formula. This problem fucking blows.
If it was the CPS it wouldnt fire at all correct? Im thinking its the fuel pump. Im not sure if it has anything to do with the AFM or not...

fuel pressure regulater vacuum line, how would one go about checkin to see if its ok. Check for leaks? It would leak fuel if that was the case wouldnt it?

Wires are brand new red 8mm wires....not the problem.

If you have a bog while driving it might be your CPS as M3fan suggested as this would throw off the timing.

when my fuel pump was tarting to go it started out as a longer crank then I had to start giving it a little gas to get it to start. I hope it is something more simple like the ignition wires or distributor. They should be easier to test.

all you need now is something wrong with the chassis and you will never figure it out

shit, i dont mean to post after myself, but i've been thinking about it alot. If you have an exhaust leak before the O2 sensor, you could have really shitty emmissions. Is your mileage decreasing too? BC if it is, you could have an exhaust leak and that causes hesitation too along with a gurgling sound under cruising.

    ok i'm done now
