    Glovebox won't open

I've got an 85 318i, but you 325 guys should be able to help too. Anybody know how to get this damn thing open? I got the handle off because it wasn't doing anything, and to see if I could just open the latch that way, but i'm stuck. It wasn't locked or anything, so it's buggin me.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Ian

So did you break the handle off, or did you unscrew it? I would push up really hard on the actual glovebox itself, and then press up on the little 'catch' to try and get it to retract. Then it should just fall down.

When you get it open, I would adjust the metal part that the latch hangs on. Just unscrew the top screws and you should be able to bend down the metal part a bit. This will reduce the effort it takes to open/close the glovebox.

I hope I understood you correctly.

My bros just got stuck the other day. It took about 5 minutes of excessive beating and it popped right open

there is an artical on BEN on how to get it open. Google BEN E30, I dont feel like doing it!

I had to go through the article since mine was stuck. You have to get on your ass, feet up on the back of the seat and get some bolts out from the opposite end of the glove box and reach in from that way. You'll have to replace the latch, so find one now.

Its going to be a pain if your a big at all.

        good luck.

            There it is.

If you try using a screwdriver at all to pry it open make sure its padded damn well or else you'll fuck up your glove box, or even worse your dashboard
