    fuel sending units

    I have a 1989 325i..why does my car have 2 fuel sending units ??

    Do you mean for the fuel gauge? I always thought one was for the warning light, but I suppose they could average out the feul level since it's a split tank. But I don't know for sure.

      "averages" the two saddles basically, wired in series. the low fuel switch is only part of the pass side sender

      i have the 325 tank, but only with one sender on the pass side. fuel gauge swings a good bit, but my fuel pressure stays rock solid.

        See I just learned something. Never really tried to find out why there are two units. Of course never had any problems with them either.......pumps? Now that's a different story.
