    wiring 89 M20 into 87 chassis

Alright, about to tackle this again...

We installed an 89 M20 into my cabrio, and tried to retain the 89 engine harness. This has proven to be a nightmare, so we are going to revert back to an 87 harness.

has anyone wired a late M20 with an early harness?

    thanks in advance.

any exact details? the only biggy is bringing C104 on the 87 into C101, I recommend taking an 88+ C101 connector and modding in that into the car.. I did this and its been problem free, and accepts any late model engine harness.

The cabrio is an 87. I parted out a 220k 89 325is that had been immaculately taken care of, and decided that the engine would be a good donor for the cabrio, since it was a great motor, and few people would be willing to buy a 200+ motor.

        SO,

we tried to install the 89 M20 into the 87 cabrio, using the 89 engine harness.
        No worky.

Would it be easier to swap back to an 87 harness? Or should I mod the plug?

At this point, obviously the easiest fastest fix would be best, but also I need something reliable.

        Thanks!

Least hassle, 87 Harness...otherwise you gotta pull 3 wires deep inside the dash, to run them over to C101 (correctly anyway)

            Cool, 87 harness it is.
Any difference in plugs on the motor? Do I have to mod the harness to work on the 89 block?

88+ use a fuel rail harness for the injectors, instead of individual plugs like the 84 - 87 models..

Just rip that fuel rail harness off and use the individual plugs.
