    318i bout to explode WTF!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

    Hey,
i just changed the slave cylinder in my 84 318i and got it all working fine. so it sat for a couple days in the cold. so today i go out and fire it up and it fine. I let it warm up as i clean the snow off it then i decide to jet. as i get three blocks from my house the idle starts to rise! it goes to about 3000rpm and i shut it off at a stop sign. I go to fire it back up and ......... nothing. The n a click like as if the battery was dead?!?!? so im like WTF!!! im three blocks away from my house! its freezing outside! my car is illeagal as hell! i dont have a drivers license and im parked in front of a fire hidren! WOW could it be any worse i thought. So i sit there for a min and think?
Then i try to start it RRRRRRRRR nothing acts like the battery is dead. so i repeat that about 3 times and finally it starts!!! Sweet i take off! but the idle is high as hell. Im not even touching the gas and im accelerating! I have no idea what is going on. I replaced a fuse that my heater blower keeps on blowin for some reason. could that be a factor? any help would be help!:

Could be the idle controle valve that is causing this high idle. The fues blowing means that there is a short somewhere in the blower circuit.

Here's a tip, don't drive without a license. Take a look at your throttle cable linkage, With the car off, modulate it with someone looking in the hood, it could be broken or bound up somehow.

Same thing happened to me in my M10, it happened to be a vacuum hose i disconnected on a black gizmo on the side of my carb. Since you don't have a carb, anyway look around close to the intake for hanging hoses, I wouldn't have replied in this thread if my Idling hadn't jumped exactly to 3000 RPM and held there until i put the hose where it was supposed to be. ;)

You could have a vacuum leak somewhere causing a super lean condition. I think you may need to go hunting.

If a hose is out of place, the extra air coming into your intake will make your car stall, stop, or idle like shit, don't ask me how i know :p :p

also, at least in the M10 there is a vaccum operated gizmo that has something to do with the accelerator position, there is a solenoid (or something) that kicks on when the hose to the black thing (on the top passenger side of the carb) is disconnected.

sounds like a vacuum leak, check all of the hoses that go to the intake manifold
