Im thinking the battery is dead. your thoughts?

so i go out to my car today to go to the grocery store and it wont start. nothing, no turn over, no lights, no gauges respond. The car hasnt been started in like 2 or 3 days. My initial reaction and assumption was that the battery has died. Being that the closest place to get a battery isnt within walking distance and seeing how i have some time before i can procure a ride i was wondering weather or not something else might be causing my car not to start. I couldnt think of anything. Thanks

There are other possibilities. A check of battery voltage would tell if the battery isn't charged (12.0v or below would be a dead battery). An obvious and simple check would to make sure that the battery terminals are tight. And you could try jump starting the car. Allow the donor car to charge up the battery for 10-15min and then see if it will start.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Unhook your terminals, clean them and sand them on the inside, pur some warm water with baking soda on the lead terminals, clean them thoroughly, and reassemble.

It's odd to have the battery so dead that your dash lights odn't work, at least you should see your oil light glow a bit red and go off when you crank.

I would vote for sulphate inside the terminals, remeber that that shit will also prevent your batt from being properly charged.
            .;)
