    Help!!! Passenger door wont unlock

So my passenger side door will not unlock. I tried centreal locking and unlocking from the d/s, regular locking and unlocking d/s side, locking and unlocking from trunk, pulling up on the unlock from the inside, and unlocking from the outside of p/s door. I can lock the car from the passenger side, but it wont turn enough to unlock.

I know I will probably need to change the lock set. I acutually have a spare set ready to go in due to my ignition being changed. The real problem is I can't get the door open, so how can I replace the lock? Don't I have to remove the door panel or get the car unlocked first? HELP!!!

You can take the door panel off in the car, that might be your best bet, if you need help with that I've done it before.

I looked at it again and should be able to get it out. I wasn't really thinking initially. Thanks Will!

I learned that trick at work, first time I did it was on an e65 & series, that had me nervous. Once you do it it's not a big deal though.

I've taken them out plenty of times, never with a door locked though. How hard is it to swap out the lock set? Anyone? Anyone?

It is really easy. You just pull off the clip on the back of the lock and slide it out after you remove the lock rod. Remember the orientation of the rod.

Electronic actuator inside the door is bad.
Replace it and all will work fine again.

If you have a spare key, just stick it in the lock and twist to unlock... it'll feel like the key is going to snap, but if its a solid key it shouldnt and the door will unlock. You can then open it to remove door panel to replace actuator. Its an L shapped plastic/electric module.

              HTH, as always YMMV.

No need to start replacing lock sets unless you *want* to

Is that why my d/s door has been a bitch to lock and unlock recently too? I have been using the pass side for a few weeks and now am on to the trunk.

Well, I will go with new actuators for both. Thanks!

BTW - Where are they located?

Look for 2 6mm (?) bolts at the bottom rear of the door panel.

You're just as screwed when the actuators start to go bad... even if you're using keyless.

The drivers side is a red/white module. The pass side is all white. Or vice versa. You'll recognize them.
