    Bouncy Idle, Now won't start

    Hello,

Went to the gym this morning and after getting there and parking the idle speed started bouncing past 2000RPM and back down constantly. It did this for about 1 minute before I turned the car off. I tried restarting it and it wouldn't start. I left it for an hour and came back; same thing.

I had to leave it there. What could cause a bouncy idle and then prevent the car from starting? I've searched the forums and have some idea on what can cause a bouncy idle but I don't know why the car won't start. Appreciate any help!

I'm getting the picture the Idle Control Valve is the most like culprit, but would it also prevent the car from starting?

It shouldn't prevent the car from starting...

      Unplug it and try.

Have you checked all of your fuses? Check them and double check them, I had the fuse that powers my ICV and the fuse that powers my fuel pump go out in the same week once... What a pain in the ass!

        Could be a vaccum leak.

Take all of your intake and vacuum hoses off and inspect them too, you'd be suprised where the intake hoses sometimes decide to split open.

              Was the ECU

              Hey guys,

Thanks for the replies. It was the ECU, I had it replaced with a used one. Had the ICV cleaned to be sure also. Car runs well now (I'm sure something will come up in a couple of weeks ;) ).

I'm wondering if it's worth changing all the vacuum hoses in the spring as preventitive maintenance. Shouldn't be expensive. Waste of money? Any thoughts?

I got a couple more vacuum hoses to replace myself, they aren't expensive it's just a pita job to do them all that's all and if anything it will only improve your idle , my 2 cents.
