I've read the rear axle of the Z3 is nearly identical to that of the E30. Since I've read this many times I assumed it as true, also helped by viewing diagrams of the Z3 and coming to the same conclusion.
I need to replace the rear differential mount on my '90 and well, I figured I'd be safe purchasing a mount from a Z3 (the part itself is less). Upon closer examination, the mount looks similar but not identical.
I asked a machine shop to press it in and although they said they'd do it they could not guarantee the diff cover not cracking since its made of aluminum.
My thinking is that the mount is more oval when new and it will fit fine when pressed but I don't want to risk the cover cracking.
If anyone has any knowldge on this topic, please chime in!
Thanks in advance!
