    drivers door lock

ok over the past few weeks my drivers door lock has been getting progressivly harder and harder to lock until today where out of no where it would lock but go back to the middle position...

so after some lube and wiggling it got to where i could get it to the center... and i have now given up on using to lock the car (using the trunk now since it work flawlessly)

so now i can unlock it no problem but not lock from there and unlocking is pretty stiff

anyone got any suggestions... passenger side and trunk locks work fine so i dont think the key is the problem...

what did you lube it with? If you used a liquid shame on you! always use powdered graphite lube.

My last car had the exact same problem, never got around to getting it fixed, but I would have loved to find out what the problem was.

And not to jack your thread, but the power system on my current car doesn't work at all...

Eventually it won't lock at all from the door. Shit inside the key barrel goes funky.

I still have to get a new one. I have no power locks either so I gotta open my rear door everytime I want to lock my car.

          Sold it.

I also have this exact problem, and am now locking/unlocking my car from my trunk.

so can i just replace the lock cylinder and re-set it to work with my key?

i am going to try and take it apart monday or tuesday and see...

i have this same issue. the double lock tumblers get messed up over time.

i'd suggest just getting keyless entry...

Go to a scrap yard and see if u can find a new lock with key. You will have two keys but o well.

I had the same problem, but it's not what you guys are thinking. Before you go and buy a lock cylinder, check this out:

This worked for me, maybe it will work for you.

thanks for the info... but i dunno how or why when i went out to go take a look yesterday the lock had fixed itself and was smooth as butter... we'll see how long that lasts

If it works now, it sounds like the adjustment was just off a little bit. It'll mess up again, trust me.

Mine are startin to feel a bit rough too. I'm gonna get keyless entry soon enough though.

BMW did a damn good job on the trunk though, that thing is always smooth!! 8)

if you opened it with the trunk everyday it would not be so smooth :)

i had that problem but it was only when i used my crappy back up key. when i use the real one or my good copy i have no problems
