I'm parting my car and came along this. I removed the black cover to see whats on the inside and I don't know what it is.

Separate from that, but is there an impact switch on these cars that cuts ignition when the car is wrecked?

Thats where the fuel pump is. The pipe that goes 90 degrees to the right and then straight into the tank is where the pump is. Clean it off a little and youll see.

Remove the fuel sending unit from the pump before you try and pull the pump from the tank. Otherwise, it won't come out.
