    A long time ago

I don't even remember when I asked for help for my 325E. You guys responded very well, and I thank you, but I mis diagnosed it to begin with...Long story short, I'm back with internet access and an un-acessable old email, ergo I started a new account.

I did a complete engine swap when all it was was a dead air box. I thought it was burning severe oil, but instead was drowning its poor self in gasoline.

Twas possibly the most troublesome engine swap that I could have imagined. From it I had a huge stain on my garage floor, a replacement unpainted unprimered ghetto looking hood, and a deep hatred for exhaust nuts.

Now I have this damn loping idle. Once my car warms up, it just lopes idle from 700 rpm to about 1200, then acts like its dying, jerks a bit, then starts loping again. ICV?....

Idle valve, idle control unit, or throttle position switch.

How can one tell the difference between the multiple types of idle control valves for the years of the car?
