Engine bay squeals and whirrs when driven.

Often, but not always, a strange squeaking/whirring sound will occur in my engine bay once I go around/past 2300 rpms and continue untill I drop rpms. Its decently loud, and it does not sound like a belt problem. Then again....

The engine has 5000 or so miles on it since I put it in, and the problem started probably after 1000 or so had been driven.

    Any ideas guys?

Besides obvious belt issues? fan hitting anything, including it's housing? any of the rotating parts, list could be long. How's the timing belt? Flywheel pressure plate combo ok?

Best idea would be to have someone rev it while sitting and use a mechanics stethescope (or a length of vacuum hose in a pinch) to find the source.
