    Non-E30 related clutch question

    Hey guys-
I was wondering what you guys think about the condition of the clutch on my younger brothers DD. It is a 1997 Eclipse GS, just hit 100k and I think the clutch is pretty much gone. I beleive that it is slipping, but its not too noticable, but I have noticed that engine RPM's are continually rising as I continue to drive. I noticed at about 95k or so miles I would cruize at about 25-27 hundred RPM's doing right about 60-65ish. Now, I am at about anywhere from 3k to about 3.2k at same speed. Is this a sign of deffinite clutch failure or maybe something else? I was also thinking pressure plate of course, but that means a clutch job anyways. What do you think?

Get to a good cruising speed on the highway (say 65), push in the clutch, get some RPMS up and let it back out quickly. Do the RPMs quickly drop down to where you were at cruising speed with a "grab", or do they slowly drop down? If they drop slowly, your clutch is slipping and needs replacement.
