Now if your oil and antifreeze mix you get a milky mixture in your oil. Which i probably a cracked head or bad head gasket. But my 325ic has been sitting for about a month or so and I just took if for a couple mile run. Seems to be running ok, I popped the hood anyway, and checked the oil via the dip stick, seemed ok. I popped the oil cap an inside it looks ok, however on the oil cap there was a milky white film. I looked in the coolant res and it looked pretty clear/green no oil. Could this just me moisture from sitting or do I have bigger problems? Thanks for any help/advise anyone can give.

is it cold there? Are you driving short distances? i know that my old golf used to get that real bad when i would drive short distances and the car wouldn't burn off the condensation that built up in the cold. Now i am no expert but in my experience it was just condensation.sigpic -
Carry a can of carb cleaner, clean that shit off the cap. Put some miles on it, see if it comes back. Then you will know if you have a worry or not.

milky white film can mean coolant is mixing with oil. Change your oil and make sure everything is ok, check your coolant also.Comment

Probably just condensation. You said you hadn't driven the car in a month or so, and that you just recently drove it...did you let it get to full operating temp? and keep it there? We have a problem at school(STEP) where the cars only run for about 10-20 min a day, just idling. You look at all of their oil caps and they are all white and nasty. These cars never get driven either, we have a 00 M5 with 2000 miles on it, and an 03 M3 with 200 miles on it:-).
Clean off your oil cap as mentioned, then take the car for a moderate highway drive. Let it get nice and warm, and let it stay warm for a while. Then when you park the car let it idle for a bit, turn the car off, and pull the oil cap and let the steam out. should be good to go.

Ha, our m5 is 03 and i think it has 1800 miles on it. has a nasty valve tick cause it gets ratted out like nothing else. the e46 m3 only has 330. The e60 m5 has 160 something (this will soon change). I think we [columbia] get more and better cars from what I hear. sorry.Probably just condensation. Man, thats nothing. At my school we have the following:
92 e36: 200 miles
96 e36: 500 miles
e32: 200 miles
e30: 12000 miles
All the cars do is idle for like 2 min every few days. Spark plugs with less than 300 miles look like shit.Originally posted by cabriodster87"Honey? What color is this wire? our oldest car is a 98 e36 with less than 500 miles.(its going back soon) we don't even have an e30 or anything lol. Some sick cars tho with low millage thats for sure! We're already getting rid of our 335i i think, and the e85. The nice thing about STEP-NJ is being close to Montvale and getting a lot of pre-pro's and other unreleased shit. Our instructors said they were driving a new 6 way long before talk of releasing it, and supposedly theres an e90 m3 running around...

We have the e93 vert:p
All the cars that have no miles are in worse shape than my e30 with 270k miles. They are taken apart and put back together so many times it is unreal. The interiors are crap now because of it.
We have an e38 that got covered in tar. They could not clean it all off of the car (there is black in all the cracks and such) so it is a training car now.Originally posted by cabriodster87"Honey?
