what up guys i just got done replacing a control arm due to the recent snow on the 58 rev'ing my car lmao .. anyways since i was working on the car i went to address my mystery vibrating fuel pump. The pump was replaced about a year ago. i pulled it out and the housing seemed like it was loose ( the metal brace that the actual pump sits next too.) anyways i shimmed it with a piece of fuel line but i can still hear the pump changing tone . has anyone else delt with this ? thanks

If you're talking about your 91 325i, the fuel pump is in your tank, and there should be no metal "brace" under your seat.

Sounds like you are describing an eairly model car's fuel pump. They are located behind the driver's rear wheel. The pump on your car, however, should be in the tank on the driver's side like metioned before. It is mounted in the tank from the top and can not move or vibrate. Are you maybe talking about the filter?Originally posted by cabriodster87"Honey? What color is this wire? Is it the same as that one? Are you sure? I don't believe it. OK, it works. no what has happened is that the actuall fuel pump that sits in the chassis in the tank vibrates and hits the chassis and makes weird noise.. i was having a fueling problem but i fixed that ( clogged fuel filter ) i was just wondering if anyone else had problems with the actual pump coming loose in the chassis.Comment

update.. ok my fuel filter was clogged to hell.. bad enough where my car would hit 5k and sputter and cough.. the pump is kinda loose in the bracket / chassis so im gonna shore that up before putting it back in. well see what happens.anyways now that that the fuel filter is kosh i have a test pump (e36 318is in a e30 housing ) and it runs great and the pumps noise doesnt change tone. i think the old pump was fighting with the filter..Comment
