I'm thinkin of a Brullen exhaust...and a few other questions

I know there are other threads on here, but I have a fairly new question.

the exhaust in my 88 right now sounds really badass, I didn't really want to let it go quite yet, but I don't know if I should even put it back in after dropping the entire exhaust, drivetrain, and tranny to replace my clutch.

Here are some things I'd like in my exhaust:

    1. Stainless steel tips
    2. Sounds really good, but not overly loud. I want something that sounds like my exhaust right now. ;)
    3. Straight tips - I really want straight tips

Are there any other suggestions other than the Brullen? Needs to be affordable...

Therefore, I'm leaning towards the quiet version of the Brullen exhaust.

I looked it up, and Jordan got his here: http://www.ppsonline.net/brullen.htm#brullenmufflers (#318)

Anywhere else I could get it? And, should I get 2.5" outlet, or 3" outlet? 3" isn't too big, is it?

Also, I kinda want new piping from the cat back to the Brullen exhaust. I read that the exhaust has that huge bend (which I can clearly see on my own). is that something to worry about all that much? Should I see if I can get some new pipes made for the cat back?

    Opinions welcome!

    Thanks!

This is just a quesiton in my mind right now, I wanna look at the possibility. ;)

Anyone? I took off my exhaust, and, well, the thing is rotted pretty damn bad. (just the muffler that is) I'm thinkin I'll buy some new stuff instead of puttin the rotting back on.

Note: everything from headers down to cat is just fine. It's the muffler that is rotting. Pipes going to the muffler are fine... But, I read that the curve they have in them could be avoided?? (more below)

According to what Jordan said, I'm really leaning towards Brullen. I'm just not sure what other straight tip mufflers are out there?

I want to look at all my options here, and figure out which one I want.

I want something definately louder than stock, but not something I'd get pulled over for or that is overly loud. I want something that sounds throaty. Jordan said the quiet version of the Brullen was still pretty loud, but not really loud like the loud version of the muffler.

Also, I wanted to ask about pipes coming from the cat, going to the muffler. Is that big curve, going up to the muffler a big deal? Is there something I can just buy the pipes, so I don't need to reuse mine, or should I have the muffler shop fab something up?

I'm just not sure right now, could use all the suggestions I could get. 8)

Brullen, Remus, Supersprint, B&B Triflo all are worth looking at.

Repeat after me he's on Budget so that rules out Remus, Supersprint, and B&B Tri-flo.

I had a muffler shop redo those in dual 2 inch piping. They hang a little lower, but my cars ass isnt that low.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to get the Brullen exhaust. most likely the same as Jordan's, but the quiet version.

Can anyone confirm that the quiet version is still louder than stock? I want my car to have presese, but not THAT much presense. The loud doesn't sound all that loud though. So, I'm really not sure what to do here. I definately don't want to get something quietly than my current rotted exhaust with a hole in it, cause it sounds badass right now. 8)

I was worried about the crushed section right below the rear-subframe as I read. But, when i need to be worried about that, I'll be able to afford getting new pipes made. ;)

                  I've looked at a few threads (http://www.r3vlimited.com/phpBB2/vie...hlight=brullen and http://www.r3vlimited.com/phpBB2/vie...hlight=brullen)

I could get my brullen exhaust here: http://www.ppsonline.net/brullen.htm#brullenmufflers

Can you guys think of any other places with different prices?

Jordan, wanna chime in at all? ;)

still no one can justify the 300 more dollars being lost to opt for a tip?

i have the brullen muffler....initially started out with the big mammoth dual 4" dtm tips.
Then after about 3 year one part had a hole in it...and they replaced it with a new one for free!!!
It sounds good and loud.....i like it alot and its cheap too.

I can vouch for the quiet version of brullen. I got mine too as ppsonline.net, it's louder than stock but nothing to unbarable, and it screams when you get on it!! I love it, plus the tips are so pretty :D

Cool, thanks for the mini review!

When I do buy exhaust, I think I'll go with a quiet Brullen - for now, I'm going to be using the exhaust off the IS.

Than what? where would you get tips?

I knew it was an option, but wasn't sure what I'd do without tips?
