    Low beams not working

My low beams are not working on my '86 325. Both lights do come on, however, when the high beam switch is activated. This indicates to me both low and high relays are good as well as fuses. Could this be the low beam check relay? Any ideas?

There is a separate lamp filament inside the low beams that come on with the highs. You either have 2 burned out low beam lights or a problem in the low beam circuit.

I am actually not getting any voltage to the light sockets. That's why I suspect a problem in the low beam circuit.

Look in your fuse box. You will have a fuse for each, and a relay for both I believe... You blew your fuses or your relay, OR you might have a broken switch.

I did determine one thing...the lights all work on high beam. This tells me the high beam relay is at least good. I also checked the bulbs and they are good. This does seem to suggest the low beam check relay as a culprit since on high beam the circuit bypasses this relay. I checked both low beam fuses and they are good.

Yep, I'd say replace that relay. You can jump it also to see if that's the problem. If you jump the relay socket and still get no lights, it's your switch.

Does anybody know how I get to the relay to jump it out? I have no problem eliminating the low beam check control functionality so I could permanently jumper it out.
Do I have to pull apart the fuse box and unhook wires, etc?

Take the high beam relay and plug it into the low beam socket, They are the same relay. You will have no high beam but...You will be able to see if it's the low beam relay. If you plug the low beam relay into the high beam socket and the high don't work there is you culprit.

Yeh, I did that. Both relays are good.

Did you purchase a sealed beam and see if the light is faulty? Odd for both lights to go out at same time but happens. Have the lights ever been replaced?

Switch? There are a few for sale some one was cleaning out there garage. Did you check with a multimeter for voltage at the switch in the dash?
