Help - is this a wheel bearing going out???

Ok - I have a high pitched sound coming from the driver's side (I think) of the car that is driving me crazy. I suspect a wheel bearing, but I had the rear passenger side wheel bearing go bad last year and this is a different sound. Here is what is happening:
    • I just replaced the driver's side rear wheel bearing last night - and the sound is still there! Pass side rear bearing replaced less than 12 months ago.
    • Sound is high pitched -almost like a fan belt adjusted wrong but not so "screetchy"
    • Dependent on wheel rotation (doesn't happen when the car is stopped)
    • Comes and goes at times
    • Starts at about 10-15 mph but doesn't get really loud the faster you go like you would expect from a wheel bearing.
    • Sometimes the sound stops when in motion - but usually only for a few seconds then it comes back.
    • Cannot seem to see any correlation to when I turn the wheels.
    • Haven't noticed any vibration
Planning on replacing the front bearings - but don't want to spend the $$ if it is something different I am not thinking of. Could it possibly be the center driveshaft bearing? Thoughts?

Just throwing this out there since I have no clue. Could it be the LSD going bad? Some of those symptoms make me remember a thread about someones LSD going bad. Sorry for not being much of help.

maybe the metal protecting plate behind the rotor rubbing against the rotor as it spins..........

Thought of that - but the sound isn't a rubbing sound, but I checked the plates anyway and they clear.
