Rough idle on startup for about one minute or less...

Think this could be the cold start valve? It happens on a 75 deg day too..

Guess I'm just wonderin what you guys think it could be? It's not a HUGE deal - but with my new exhaust, it makes a little noise moving up and down between 600 and 1200 for a minute...hehe

    Thanks!

unless your car is not what you say it is on the left side i dont think you should have a cold start valve

I would guess that it is the temp. sensor for the motronic unit. there are 2 by the thermostat, 1 for the guage, the other is probably bad.

I don't know. That could possibly be the cause, but in my case it wasn't. I have the same kind of cold starting problem, and I have to give it some gas as soon as the engine fires, or else it will die. Then once its running, it runs roughly for a minute or two like the first poster described.

I replaced both temp sensors, I've cleaned my AFM, cleaned the ICV, put an external check valve in the fuel line (so now instead of just cranking for a long time before it starts, now it fires up relatively quickly and then dies), I've replaced the fuel pump relay, and I'm pretty much out of ideas...

I wasn't sure if I had a cold start valve or not.

Mine is real similar to yours, but I don't need to give it any gas...it just idles rough. Since it's warmed up, it only idles rough for 30 seconds or so, and smooths out. Then it doesn't run rough until it's cold again, like letting it sit for 8 hours or so.

So, all I have is an idle control valve then, huh? And, from there, my ECU handles the cold start?

Ummmmm I have similar probs on both of mine. Just starting to look into it. But I have some thoughts that havent been mentioned, Check all your grounding straps an see if the are in good shape an have clean ends, also fuel filter or pressure regulator may be plugged up. I suspect its a combo of the filter an the grounding issues form my problems.
