    Can I replace alternator bearings

My 1990 325i alternator's got a bad front bearing. It's still putting out current, but the front bearing is getting pretty noisy. I've heard of replacing the front bearing as part of a kit, or by itself? Does anyone know the part #s and who has these? It's a Bosch alt, btw.

Dealer, BavAuto, etc. Standard issue stuff but it's going to cost you more than picking up a decent used alternator IMO.

I've not done it to the BMW, but may of these require the bearing to be pressed on/off. Also, getting the pulley off can sometimes be troublesome. I would find a local shop that repairs alternators and starters and have them do it. They will stock the bearing and probably do it in a day. A used alternator is a solution, but it involves risk (for the record, I buy used alts for mine, but then I also don't drive it every day).
