    Do the 318i (m10) have a cps ?

Is there something on the m10 like on the m20s that control the spark ?

Is there a reference sensor ?

My car cranks but does not start, the fuel pump is getting power (checked with dvm and a light bulb) and if I jump the 30 and 87 pins on the fuel pump relay (the very left one if looking at the 3 from the driver side) then I hear a noise in the engine bay that sounds like fuel going to the rail...

I connected a dvm to the +/- contacts on the ignition coil and when I crank the car up it's only getting about 1 volt on the terminals, is it supposed to get full 12 like the fuel pump ?

I believe it pulls that information off the distributor...

I only have 1 thick green wire connected to the side of it, am I missing something ? There is a "male" spade connector on the side of the distributor housing (facing the firewall) but nothing is attached to it and no wires in the area that aren't connected... where is the other end coming to/from maybe I can trace it that way ?

I think that spade connector is only a ground wire, my 84 318i didn't have it connected I'm pretty sure, and it ran fine. I can check my 85 tomorrow to see if its connected to anything important...
