    really low m42 ehgine temp

Well the car never gets out of a tad past the cool blue indicator mark..
I was wondering if there was a safe way to find out why it wont go past this? i was thinking run it without coolant, but that might fry the water pump since it would be lacking is lubricating and cooling properties so what to do?

im thinking stuck open thermos stat, or just a mis reading guage.
well any help would be much appreciated, thanks alot.

Most likely you've got a bad thermostat. In this case I'd bet that the unit is stuck open and that'll be obvious when you get it out of the car. But if it isn't obviously broken they are easy enough to test by placing the thermostat in a pan of water and slowly heating. Monitor the temperature and see when the stat opens.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Your thermostat is stuck open....Had the same problem on my m42. Would barely get out of the blue...Make sure when you get a new t-stat and O-ring you also get a new thermostat housing gasket....It is not part of a kit....

Yes, pick up a new thermostat. It's definitely stuck open.
