    Fuel level sending unit

Hey guys...does anyone know how to test a fuel level sending unit? I am looking for voltage reading, test methods, etc.

Wiring on the 3 pin connector too, if you have it.

You have to measure resistance between pins. On early L-jet and motronic, pins are 31, G, W from left to right looking at the connector face. Between G and 31 resistance decrease from empty to full position. Full should be ~71.7 OHMS +- 2.3, empty should be 3.2omhs +- 0.7. For the empty light, between W and 31, check for continuity at empty.

I assume you have early motronic, but if not, there is a 5 pin connector, pins are 1, 2, 3 to respective bottom right, middle, bottom left (kinda like a triangle) Check resistance b/t 1 & 3 should be decreasing from empty to full.

Taken from the haynes manual, there used to be a pdf version on the net, there's pictures in there of the pins to use if this description is not understandable....
