    Tranny Fluid + update.

I need some new tranny fluid. Manual of course. I have a rear seal leak so what would you guys reccomend for me? Thanks.

Well I got some but I cant get the drain plug off. Its just messing up the plug pulling so hard. Shat.

I recommend fixing that rear main seal leak and to get a breaker bar for that drain plug.

As far as tranny fluid, most Dextron III ATF fluids should work, but you should check the sticker on your tranny. It's usually color coded and your manual will tell you which type of fluid to use.

If you want to get really catchy, get Redline ATF. You'll need about 2 quarts.

I've ran Redline D4 ATF in my manual transmission and it shifted nicely when cold, but it also created alot of noise because it's so thin. Same deal with redline MTL.
I would recommend a fully synthetic GL-4 75w-90, something like mobil 1 or, Valvonline synpower.

Thanks guys, Id take it to work and get a breaker bar but I have no exhaust system. How hard is a rear seal leak to fix? Id imagine dropping the tranny and such? Ill just keep adding till I have time to waste in the summer. Thanks again.

No exhaust system? So? Drive that bitch wide open. :) I've done it going to the muffler shop. It's fun to watch people spill drinks and shit as you wind the engine up through 1st and 2nd.

Nah , you don't have to pull the tranny.
Drop the heat sheilds, and the driveshaft, and unbolt the output flange with a thinwall 30mm deep socket, and pry out the seal. Don't push the new one in too far, or it will spin and not seal.

I had my rear tranny seal fixed, but theres no garuntee that it will stay that way. My driveshaft, as most are, was pretty well grooved, so it may seal up for like a year, and then it will start leaking again. Mine just started leaking again, kinda bugs me.
