2 Questions. How to remove locks...

I have a few questions but do not want to make 3 threads for them. The first one is i swapped doors on my sedan yesterday, but for the life of my i can not get the key locks out. Is there a trick. The key lock whihc is missing was the only working one. For some reason the trunk lock does not accept the key. Is it becuase it is a duplicate?

2nd question is how do i remove the bottom alluminum molding on the sedans. I saw the DIY on the site but it does not seem to work for me.

    Thanks in advance

there should be a ring on the outside of the lock itself that you can take a screw driver to and force it to turn and unscrew.

Access the lock from inside the door. Take off door skin, you'll get better room to get your arm in there also if you take the window regulator off the window and let that drop down in the door and hold up the window glass. I used a ~10" block of wood with slots in either end to hold up window glass while I was working in there.

Next, there's a U shaped clip you remove from the inside, slide it forward (going from memory, it might actually be down) and then the lock cylinder will come out.

Don't try to remove the lock cylinder without removing this clip inside the door. It won't come out without damaging the door badly. Also, I found my clip left the lock pretty sloppy after reinstalling and needed to be replaced. It's a pretty cheap part though, only $5 or so. Lastly, I also found my lock box was broken and couldn't be reused. That sucker was more expensive, about $60 (Cdn.).

Good luck, it's not a tough job, but a PITA for sure.

E30's had originaly 2 or 3 keys, one "master" that opened all locks and the other spare(s) that only worked for doors and ignition, those other key didn't work for trunk or glovebox.

If your duplicated key is cut from those spare keys, it will only work on doors and ignition.

So is there no way for me to get a master key now?

                    how to remove the locks:
                    1) roll window up
                    2) remove inner door panel
                    3) pry C-clip off with a long screwdriver or something. on cars w/ door lock heaters, the c-clip and heater are one
                    4) slide lock cylinder out from the outside

this is like a 5 min job. getting it all back in was a little harder since it was hard getting the c-clip back on.
