    Revs bounce back at 5200rpm

I was driving today and took the back roads home and decieded to have some fun. I was in 3rd gear and pushing pretty hard when I hit around 5200 rpm and the revs shot back like I hit the revlimited and then it did it again in 2nd gear. My car is 91 318is any help would be great.

    That's not an eta, right?? :x 8)

    (I know you said 91 318is) ;)

I'm guessing it has to be. That's really weird though. Must have something to do with the computer than?

It would suck to have an M42 limited to 5200 rpm, the power is up high! :?

For sure, it's supposed to rev higher than that...

I wonder what would cause that.......

Have you installed a new chip/OBC/tach recently? Had the car serviced?

              It's not ECU related.

I had the same issue for about 1 year...with the M42 AND the S50. I wound up 1st gear one day with the 4cyl---6300-JERK! (7200 rev limit). It would 'jerk' at anywhere from 5000-6000. This wasn't a fuel or ignition cut, this was a "I don't think so, the RPM's will stop NOW."

When I put in the S50, I had the same trouble for the first month or so. I havn't had it happen in a while (knock on wood).

My guess is the speedometer sensor on the diff.
