    Venting !

clutch pedal in the 325 sedan hit the floor the other day and wouldn't come up. Replaced the slave cylinder first, no luck. Picked up a new clutch master yesterday and put it on today. Couldn't get the car into the garage so worked on it in the driveway. Started raining, that sucked. Then I was half in, half out of the car in the rain trying to contort myself into a position to get at the thing.

I finally get it out and the new one in, bleed it out for a while and everything feels good. Finally have pedal back. Go in to wash my hands and clean up so I can test drive it and I'm thinking "man, if I ever have to replace one of those again it will be too soon!"

I go back out and pump it by hand a few times just to make sure the air is out and about 10 pumps in the pedal loses presure again and hits the floor. Fluid starts dripping from the top seal. Guess the seal already blew out of the new unit. So now I get to wait on another one and replace it all over again.

Isn't there a plastic nipple at the top where the hose comes down to? Check that before you go buying a new one. Make sure it isnt broken/cracked.

Was the replacement master cylinder an OE part from a dealer? I've have mixed results with aftermarket parts and will no longer use anything but dealer OE parts for quite a few things. If the part is hard to change or a failure will strand the car OE is the way to go.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Ya, it's not that nipple Will. I saw the fluid coming out under the boot where that top seal is.

Buddy works for a local shop and has an account with a place here in Houston. Aftermarket piece, not oem.

See if you can get it taken back on warranty. You know... parts defect.

They will take it back, that's not a problem. Just was a PITA day.
