    bad clutch slave?

ok so my clutch is all messed up somhow, i think it is either the slave or the master.
when i tried to pull into my house for lunch my car almost died almost as if the clutch was being dumped, i felt like i was learnin to drive a stick all over again.
when i went to leave when i first tried to start the car it jumped as if the clutch pedal wasnt in, but i had it to the floor. so i poped it out of gear and started the car, after i backed out i couldnt get it out of gear.
i had a very hard time getting it back into the garage, because the engaugement is all messed up.
i know its not the clutch disk or to bearing because i just had a clutch job about 2 months ago. every once and a while i get clutch fluid on my foot leading me to believe that it is the slave.

If you get fluid on your foot, it ain't the slave. Maybe the master. Usually the symptoms of a bad master or slave is that the pedal will go down to the floor but not come up. It kinda sounds like you have air in the system (maybe a leak in the master cylinder or something).

I'd first try bleeding the system, then go from there.

And please use punctuation/capitalization man, that was a pain in the ass to read.

yeah i just tried to start it after work, and it would start up but then the clutch seemed to loose pressure and engauge all by its self. so i took it out of gear and the pedal seemed to take a while to pop back up.

does this kinda thing just happen overnight or was there some symptom that i just wasnt seeing

does the e30 use brake fluid to power the clutch or is the a separate resivoir? would i just be low on fluid by chance?

You can check the fluid (same reservior as brake), but the clutch hose place is pretty low on ours. It's the braided hose coming out of the side of it.

          Yeah, they can blow overnight.

yea they use the same reservior. and if u have fluid leaking on your foot its defintally a faulty master cylinder. just buy another and swap it in. and if u feel like it get a new slave also. and dont forget to bleed the system after u swap them in.

I had the master cylinder go on my 325i in the school parking lot last year. I had to wrap a bungee cord around the pedal and steering column and drive it home clutchless. Lemme tell ya ;). Yeah, that's got all the symptoms of a bad master cylinder.

Nice name, btw. ::looks at euro plate and grins::
