the ICV doesnt really have anything to do with idle speed. and thats not quoting me thats quoting bentley.
if you unplug the icv with the car running it will shoot up like that so check to make sure its not faulty. your throttle position sensor can be out of whack, but you can adjust that back. also could be a vacuum leak. idle is adjusted electronically based on air reading.

hey guys...i recently pulled my valvecover off to check valves. apparently sometime i had i bumped the ICV a little, and knocked the connection inside the plastic loose, and it idled at 3krpm exactly. Took a while to find it out, and since the one wire was still hooked up it was held wide open, hence the extremly high idle. So maybe just get a little screwdriver or pick, undo your ICV connection, and see if both terminals inside are still connected, my one wire was broken at the crimped portion of the connector, put a new one on, and put it back and it was fine...hope this helpssigpicComment

well i am no BMW mastermind, but every car is set up with a fast idle circuit sorta thing...so that the car wont kill itself...so just ask people where is it, and how to fix itsigpicComment

thank you for the advice..and no offense to you...but does anyone have any experience with this problem?!

i have had it happen to a number of other cars...mainly domestic, but a motor is a motor, and i am sure the electronics are close...but i would think someone would have already had the problem, and posted a fix for it...surely there is someone out theresigpicComment

Does your car have the AC belt on it? Does the AC work? Does the AC clutch fully engage?
If any of those answers are no, then there is no issue at all. Its just the moronic kicking up the idle to compensate for the increased load of the ac compressor. If the load isnt there, then it kicks the idle up high.Comment
