Is oil pressure/pump a "common" problem on these engines

I think I am going to be getting the parker performance oil perssure/temp/volt kit.

I was thinking about replacing the oil pump when I do all this. The car is my 2nd car so I can have it down for a bit. That is not a big deal. Is it something I should really worry about?

Anyone had oil pump failures? Mine has to be working because I have driven the car 1500 miles and it has not locked up, the coolant temp stays low and no running conditions to show oil starvation.

    Any input?

Not a common problem. I had my pump out after 186k. Took it apart and had an experience engine builder look at it. He said it looked good so I put it back in and never had any problems.

Cool, I don't think I have an issue.

Anyone else? 197K on engine, 1500 on the head. Seems like everything should be kosher... I kind got worried when the oil still looks super clean after the 1500 miles but the head is brand new along with all the gaskets...

Guess I can take off the valve cover and fire it up see if it sprays everywhere :)

If you take the valve cover off, dont run the engine. Pull the fuse/relay for the fuel pump. Run it till it dies. Then pull off valve cover and the wire that goes to the coil. Then have somebody crank the engine with the starter. The pipe above the cam will drip oil onto it. Not very fast at cranking speed. If oil drops out onto the cam you have oil pressure.

Your car is fine. This isn't a pos E36 m3 that had the oil pump nut problem. :)
