    Battery relocation question

I would like to relocate the battery in my car from the front to the back using the factory battery box and all. My question is this. Is passenger side trunk area the same size on all e30s or is the area smaller on the cars with batteries in the engine bay?

I have a full write up on this if you'd like to read it.

I did exactly what you're considering and I would do it differently the second time around.

    My car is a convertible.

most all the e30's have the same size hole back there. I ran into a problem where on my 84 318i the hole was narrow. So a smaller battery would of been needed. Just check your trunk, if the metal follows a straight edge from the inner fender well to the taillight it's narrow, if it jogs towards the driver's side then a normal battery will drop in.

A normal battery would not fit in the "stock" area in my car. I used a Honda battery (4inch by 10 IIRC) and made a bracket, it is almost a perfect fit.

It does look narrower to me, that's what I was worried about. A smaller battery would probably fit but then oem battery tray probably won't.
