    Break in time

I just bought a used head and I'm putting it on my car. Any break in tips/procedures?
Me: "I can't wait to redline my car!"
Mark: "Didn't you just break a rocker arm?"
Me: "Yeah, I don't think I've learned my lesson."
    Mark: "You never will."

are you rebuilding the head at all? or are you just taking it off another engine with so many miles and sticking it on yours?

If it's already been driven for a while, I'd give it maybe 100 miles before I take it to red, but it should already be broken in as it's not a new rebuild.

Yeah, its not a rebuilt head. Its from another car. I figured a good 100 miles should do it.

I'm using the Torx bolts. It just says to torque to 22 ft lbs. Then turn 90 degrees, then warm up engine, and turn another 90. How much more should I torque it after that?

i think just make sure they are all torqued to about 70 lb/ft, remember, torque from the inside out (the middle cylinders outward)

70 lb/ft? Easy enough. When I re-torque them, should it be warm or cold? (the engine...)

                Cold

This will let the metal expand and contract a few times.
